The DAAD RISE programs
Good research relies on cooperation, and international teamwork is becoming increasingly important. As a result, scientists and engineers with international experience are increasingly sought after in both business and academia. This is why the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) has created a number of exciting program opportunities under the "RISE umbrella" for students on both sides of the Atlantic who are interested in gaining research and work experience in an international setting. All RISE programs are directed at students in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, earth sciences, and physics. While all RISE programs are based on the idea of offering highly motivated students internships and funding during the summer sessions - when typically it is easier both for North American and British students (RISE only) as well as their German peers to "get away" from their actual coursework - different RISE program options are available depending on your academic status and your nationality.
