An important element to think about before you leave the country is which courses you will need to take on your return. Many colleges and universities allow their study abroad students to pre-register for the courses they will take upon their return. Depending on whether you plan to live in on-campus housing or off-campus in an apartment when you return, you need to make your housing arrangements before you go. If you are participating in a program that is not sponsored by your institution, there may be additional forms to complete in order to make sure your credits will transfer properly. Your transition back into campus life at your school will be much easier if all paperwork is completed and procedures followed before your departure.
